He is a graduate of Lincoln College, McKendree College, and The Winona School of Professional Photography.
In addition he has attended over one hundred continuing education programs and seminars in all phases of traditional and digital photography.

•  His industry experience comes from working for newspapers and wedding production as a photographer and he opened his first photography studio in Monmouth, Illinois and was the first photography instructor at Carl Sandberg Community College. 
•  Sole owner of Cameras, Film, Etc. in St. Petersburg, Fl, which was unique as it was one of the first camera stores as both a retail operation and in-house complete photo lab from 1976 to 2003.  It was the first photo lab in the market to offer digitizing of film to disk.  Additionally he installed the first high-end Gretag Net-Printer model 812  in Florida capable of making digital prints up to 12 X 18 using true photographic materials. He managed Johnson Photo, a camera store in Sarasota, Florida till he became a partner in 2005 at Lake Shore Camera in Palm Harbor, till December 2016. The store was closed when Toms partner passed on and it was the wife’s decision to close the business.

• Two terms as a Territorial Vice President of the Photo Marking Association International (PMAI).
•  A speaker at industry trade shows, his latest presentation was at the PMA at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) on the subject of passport photography. 
• He was critical to the success of the PMAI’s Certified Photographic Consultant over site committee.
•  He assisted PMAI in developing training programs for passport photo and certification.

• Tom is the “father” of two standard poodles.
